How does this work?

Every device connected to the internet has an IP address. IP geolocation databases map these addresses to real-world locations by analyzing network routing data, ISP registrations, and other public records. When you visit this page, we look up your IP address to determine your country, city, and region — no GPS or browser permissions required.

Is my location accurate?

IP geolocation is highly accurate at the country level — typically 99%+ correct. City-level accuracy is around 80%, and can vary depending on your ISP and network infrastructure. For most users, the country and region will be spot-on.

Why does my location show wrong?

Several factors can cause inaccurate results:

• VPNs and proxies: If you're using a VPN, your IP address appears to come from the VPN server's location, not your actual location.
• Mobile networks: Cellular carriers sometimes route traffic through centralized gateways, making your IP appear to be in a different city or even a different state.
• Corporate networks: Office networks may route all traffic through a central data center in another location.
• ISP routing: Some ISPs assign IP blocks registered in one region to customers in another.

Is my data stored?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your IP address is sent to our geolocation API for the lookup, but we do not log, store, or share your IP address or location data.
